In Memory of Rabbi Berel Wein zt”l

Over Shabbos, the Jewish world lost one of its great leaders and heroes, Rabbi Berel Wein zt”l. He was not only a guiding light for countless Jews around the world, but also a personal mentor and source of inspiration to me and my family.

Growing up, Rabbi Wein was the rav of my shul in Monsey, shaping my early years with his wisdom, humor, and clarity of vision. In recent months, I was privileged to spend time with him in his home, discussing Yesodei Yisrael and its mission in the future of our community here in Eretz Yisrael. His encouragement and ideals — truth, integrity, optimism, and unwavering devotion to Torah and Am Yisrael — will forever remain part of our yeshiva’s foundation. I am looking forward to infusing our yeshiva with his advice, his wisdom and his creative energy.

What inspired me most was his relentless dedication to Klal Yisrael. Even as age brought challenges, Rabbi Wein continued to teach, write, and guide, never slowing in his commitment to give of himself for others.

Rabbi Wein’s leadership and love for the Jewish people will be deeply missed. May his life and legacy continue to illuminate our path forward.
