As the city of Beit Shemesh prepared for Sukkos, the talmidim of Yesodei Yisrael took part in a remarkable three-day Community Sukkah Building Project that left a powerful impact on families throughout the neighborhood and on the boys themselves.
Over the course of the project, our students split up into teams to build approx 15 sukkahs for families with unique circumstances, each one a true act of kindness and Kiddush Hashem. The boys worked tirelessly, showing initiative, teamwork, and heart as they brought joy and comfort to others in preparation for the chag.
Among those they helped were:
A family whose mother is courageously battling cancer.
A man who, after suffering a stroke, can no longer build his sukkah on his own.
A family whose son was tragically killed in Gaza last December.
Young olim families raising small children without local support.
Families facing illness or disability, who otherwise would have been unable to fulfill this mitzvah.
Each sukkah built represented more than just physical labor, it reflected compassion, the value of being a baal achrayus, and ahavas Yisrael in action.
We could not be prouder of our boys for the way they stepped up, worked together, and represented Yesodei Yisrael with humility and heart.
Gmar Chasima Tova & Chag Sameach!
